MAintAin Activity in Arthritis
Despite the wealth of evidence demonstrating the numerous health benefits of physical activity, people with arthritis commonly do not meet recommended activity levels. Whilst various exercise programmes support people with arthritis to be active such as the ‘Be Active with Arthritis’ (BAWA) programme from Arthritis Ireland, most individuals reduce their level of physical activity after completion of a prescribed programme.
The aim of the research is to co-develop a physical activity maintenance intervention with people with arthritis, their friends and healthcare professionals, and to then test to see if it can be delivered successfully and meet the needs of those it is designed for.
This project is funded by the Health Research Board (HRB) and Arthritis Ireland (AI).
